New Gen Honda HR-V Launches May 2021, Futuristic Design

Honda is reportedly preparing a new generation of Honda HR-V. This model was initially mentioned to be launched early next year, but has now changed the schedule for introduction in May 2021. This new model is very important to Honda globally, as it will become a brand competitor in the competitive midsize SUV segment. Moreover, a number of Chinese car brands have flooded with competitive products.

The new generation Honda HR-V is rumored to be following the latest trends and features. The midsize SUV will use the base of the latest gen Jazz or Honda Fit with a number of revisions. The new generation Honda architecture will be adopted for the first time, but this will not only reduce the rigidity and weight of the current model's body, but also extend the wheelbase which has been a trend in recent years. There seems to be a high probability that it will be a coupe-like SUV style.

This SUV will use a choice of new engines including a 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine as well as a mild hybrid. In addition, the Honda HR-V is rumored to be using a 1.5L 4-cylinder combination engine parallel to the VTEC turbo + dual electric motors. The e: HEV engine will be driven by the main engine, and when driving on the highway, it will be a single engine that can run efficiently so that it is fuel efficient.

As before, the HR-V will be below the CR-V in Honda's global line-up, but will experience an increase in size, approaching 4.4 meters in length. Japanese media Best Car said the new HR-V's body dimensions were 4,350 mm long, 1,785 mm wide and 1,600 mm high. Compared to the current model, length has been increased by 20 mm, width has been increased by 15 mm but height has been increased by 5 mm. It follows the trend of wider but lower body parts in recent years like coupe SUVs.

Regarding the design, this car will adopt a cool design with dual projector-type LED headlamps, LED U DRL lights, and the front grille has a minimal design. The new design is said to be similar to the CROSSTAR, which will be an SUV flavor grade. With regard to the design of the front grille and front with the appearance of the new Honda Fit 4 Kloster.
