Volvo XC60 2021 long-term Review

A sleek new facelifted version of the XC60 T8 Recharge was unveiled just days after we first ordered our fleet's XC60 T8 Recharge via the Care by Volvo subscription program. This is a question that many vehicle purchasers grapple with: when is the best time to acquire a new car in order to keep it as new as possible for as long as possible?

If you had just signed a three- or four-year PCP or lease agreement and a new version was revealed almost quickly after, you might be irritated. With Care by Volvo, however, you only have three months to either terminate the contract or swap to a new model. So shortly after receiving our original XC60 plug-in hybrid, we placed an order for a facelifted version.

And then I was driving back down the M4 in my gleaming new XC60, safe in the knowledge that if I didn't like it right away, or if my circumstances changed, I could call or go to the Care by Volvo website and arrange for a new car in three months' time.

The XC60's facelift is minimal, with a few cosmetic adjustments and safety improvements, but there is one major change: the all-new touchscreen infotainment system, which runs on the Google Android operating system.

The prefacelift XC60's infotainment system was a mess to use, with too many choices and sluggish responses when first turned on. This new system is considerably more straightforward.
