As somebody who just fiddles with vehicle culture, I typically observe ideas to be more abnormal than alluring yet this is by no means the case for Hyundai's Heritage Series Grandeur EV, which goes with a unimaginable retro tasteful, rather than an outsider future one.
While Hyundai says that the vehicle is made to commend the commemoration of its lead car dispatched during the 80s, theres only one thing that comes into view when taking a gander at it: that it would be the ideal vehicle for a supervillain.
Honestly, I dont mean a Marvel-style enemy with extraordinary powers. I mean a Gordan Gekko-esque SOB; somebody sufficiently rich to shape the future or curve the ear of paid off lawmakers.
The vehicles passed out windows, strong hubcaps, and pixel-esque lights would look wonderful in a Hollywood film that cautions crowds about the risks of avarice, while at the same time making its riches look so damn alluring.
(Side note: a video of the vehicle posted on YouTube shows that the head and taillight pixels can even enliven, a la KITT from Knight Rider. Itd be so diverting out and about yet appears to be actually similar to the kind of thing youd find in, say, Cyberpunk 2077.)
Incidentally, absolutely no part of this is implied as an affront to the vehicle or its creators. It looks, honestly, rad as heck, and its simple to envision a more amiable form that looks more like the family cars of the period. Yet, this idea, with a velvet and cowhide inside, is evil in the most ideal way.
Assuming that Hyundai really began delivering its ideas, however, the Heritage Series Grandeur isnt the one Id really need to purchase. The Heritage Series Pony is more my speed: a little, three-entryway idea that, I kid you not, has a Nixie tube speedometer and strength meter.
Its like the Honda e (which I would truly very much want to be accessible in America, Honda!) saw the first RoboCop and began going through a strange stage that in reality sort of works for them? I unquestionably think that it is more fascinating than Hyundais last Pony-motivated idea.
Lamentably, it seems like both these vehicles are generally only freedoms for Hyundai to flaunt the two its innovativeness and its pixel-style lights that it guarantees will be an element of a genuine impending creation EV. Nothing remains at this point but to trust that like VW before it, Hyundai sees the mix its ideas caused and sorts out some accident test-withstanding way of delivering a genuine 80s restoration vehicle. It wouldnt need to affectionately reestablish genuine vehicles from the period with an advanced electric drivetrain (as it did with the Pony) to sell a vehicle simply on wistfulness. Its worked out really well for Ford with the Bronco, correct?
