If you said that the Opel Omega B2 2.5 DTI (2001-2003) you were right! The facelifted Omega have had two types of 2.5 L, inline 6 cylinder turbo diesel engines: the TD (engine code: X25DT) and the DTI (engine code: Y25DT). What most people don't know is that the DTI named versions are having a BMW powerplant! In 2001 Opel bought from BMW their 2.5 L, inline 6 cylinder, common-rail, turbo diesel engine and fitted it in the Omega B2, so basically every 2.5 L DTI produced between 2001 and 2003 is equipped with the same engine as the BMW 525d E39.
It has a power output of 150 HP and 300 NM of torque, which was an impressive performance fourteen years ago, especially compared to the 2.5 L TD Opel engine which was only performing 130 HP, but considering that the car weighs more than 1.7 tonnes, it felt pretty sluggish... Aside from this the final series Omega B2 is a good, reliable, full sized, rear wheel drive luxury sedan which nowdays can be bought for pennies and except for the multy plate clutch you got nothing to worry about, aftermarket pieces are very accessible and the construction of the engine is simple which is leading to a long lifetime and low service costs.
